Job Summary:
The Sports Public Policy Advisor is responsible for providing strategic guidance and recommendations on sports-related public policies and regulations. This role involves conducting thorough research, analyzing legislative proposals, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to shape and influence sports public policies at local, national, and international levels. The Sports Public Policy Advisor will contribute to the development of effective policies that promote fairness, integrity, and inclusivity in sports, while considering the broader societal impact.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of existing and proposed sports-related public policies, legislation, and regulations.
2. Monitor and stay up-to-date with local, national, and international political developments that may impact sports policies.
3. Collaborate with governmental bodies, sports organizations, and industry experts to understand and address key policy issues.
4. Provide expert advice and recommendations to internal stakeholders, including senior management and legal teams, on the potential impacts and implications of proposed sports public policies.
5. Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as policymakers, industry associations, and advocacy groups, to shape and influence sports public policies.
6. Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and policy briefs outlining research findings, recommendations, and potential strategies for policy implementation.
7. Advocate for fair and ethical practices in sports by actively participating in public forums, conferences, and industry events.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between sports public policies and organizational objectives.
9. Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and technological advancements in sports public policy to enhance expertise and contribute to the ongoing development of the field.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
2. Proven experience (X years) working in a sports policy advisory role or a similar position in the sports industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of sports governance structures, rules, and regulations.
4. Familiarity with local, national, and international legislative processes and procedures.
5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough and accurate research.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex policy issues to diverse audiences.
7. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at various levels.
8. Highly organized with exceptional project management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
9. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with the capacity to assess risks and propose innovative solutions.
10. A passion for sports and a commitment to advocating for equitable and inclusive policies.
11. Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for research, analysis, and presentation purposes.
